THE 2018 Southland Enviroschools Hui was held at Curio Bay last week.

Environment Southland’s education team hosted the annual hui (meeting), providing an opportunity for pupils and teachers from Enviroschools throughout the region to get together to share ideas, connect with nature, have fun and learn more about good environmental practices and sustainability.

At this year’s event, children learned about boating safety, pest animals, Curio Bay’s wildlife and fossil forest and created a large sand sculpture.

The theme of this year’s hui was Te takutai roa, the longest coastline, celebrating Southland having the longest coastline in New Zealand.
