THE sun and the crowds turned out in force for the annual Southland Santa Parade last Saturday.
The parade consisted of 22 sponsored festive floats and numerous walking groups, as well as three new floats this year, the Snoopy plane, Moani and Paw Patrol.
Southland Santa Parade chief elf Alice Pottinger said the event was a success, with about 15,000-20,000 people turning out to see the parade.
It was all about the community coming to support the event and those community volunteers participating in the parade, she said.
“Thank you to the community supporters and sponsors. It can’t happen without everyone that is involved.”
Mrs Pottinger said $1569.30 was raised during the parade for the St John Invercargill’s new hub, the chosen charity to benefit from this year’s event.
