
About 80 people took part in the Stadium Step Up Challenge at the SIT Zerofees Velodrome on Sunday, August 6.
Participants in the Stadium Step Up Challenge run up and down steps completing an indoor course covering most of the interior of the stadium.
The challenge consisted of two categories: Fitness Fanatics, who did two laps of the 2.17km course, and Social Climbers, who went around once.

Alex Kidd (72) of the Southland Tramping Club was the eldest participant in the inaugural Stadium Step Up Challenge.

Nick Phillips of Winton was the unofficial winner of the Fitness Fanatics category for the first ever Stadium Step Up Challenge. Mr Phillips completed the Fitness Fanatics course (two laps) with a time of about 19 minutes--then went around a second time, completing a total of four laps.
