The Rotary Dream Home project on Paterson St, Grasmere, is nearing completion.

Project committee member Dave McKissock, of Invercargill South Rotary, said about 900 volunteer hours had been recorded so far.

Mr McKissock said about 500 hours of manual work had been given as well as between 300-400 hours of volunteer work in the background liaising with planners, workers, companies and suppliers.

The roof was on, the windows were in, the walls were ready to be painted and there were only a few odd jobs left to be done, he said.

The home was expected to be completed towards the end of October and should go up for auction some time in November, he said.

Proceeds from the sale of the house will go to local charity the Breathing Space Trust, which works with the homeless in Invercargill.

Anyone who would like to be involved in the community project should phone Mr McKissock on 03 218 3525.
