HE may only be 1-year-old, but Invercargill toddler Asher Auld was one of the most excited Sharks supporters at last week’s game.
Asher had recently learned to walk and spent the game walking through the four corners of ILT Stadium Southland where the Southland Sharks were beaten 87-68 by the Taylor Hawke’s Bay Hawks.
Mum Helen said it was his first basketball game.
“We just moved from Hamilton about six months ago and his dad is crazy about basketball – he seems pretty entertained as well,” she said.
Asher is pictured with Southland Sharks’ mascot Shooter at half-time.
The Southland team started well in first quarter of the game, but had troubles with the Hawks’ offense as the team held a comfortable lead pretty much for most of the game.
The Sharks now have two victories and two losses in the championship.
This Saturday, they have an away-game against the Taranaki Airs and on May 27, they will return to Southland to play against the Otago Nuggets.
Tickets are available from the ILT Stadium Southland office.
