SOUTHLAND’s senior club cricket premier league games were washed out for the second weekend in a row on Saturday.
After last season’s first round was decimated by wet weather, the first five weeks of this season’s one-day competition will be 40-over contests.
In round five cricket this Saturday, Waikoikoi will have home ground advantage against Metropolitan. Southland Boys’ High School (SBHS) will host Marist, while Old Boys and Appleby are on the main oval at Queens Park.
The two lower grade senior club cricket competitions are also under way.
In round five of the division one competition this Saturday, Appleby B will host Old Boys B while Wyndale will make the long haul up to Te Anau.
The early leaders Central Western will play Blue Mountain in Winton. Riversdale has the weekend off to ponder its winless start to the season.
The Waikoikoi club’s second team has won all three of its games in division two.
This Saturday, Waikoikoi B plays Metro B on Queens Park’s second ground. Central Western B plays SBHS B in Winton, while Marist B hosts Albion at Miller St.
