TRAINING is under way for those entered in the 2019 Architecture Unlimited Track Challenge set for June 30.

Previously called the Corporate Pursuit, the event held at the SIT Zero Fees Velodrome in Invercargill will have teams of up to six compete in track cycling.

While initially the event catered for teams entering from their workplace or business, for the past couple of years there had been a category which allowed any individuals to create a team, as long as each team had at least one female entered.

help them train to compete and trained for one hour a week on the track. There are two divisions in the event – Battle of the Businesses and Social But Serious.

The race was a team sprint, which meant four members of each team would complete laps of the track – four in total – with two teams on the track at the same time.

Cycling Southland general manager Nicola Wills said there were 15 teams entered in this year’s challenge, which was two more than last year.

Ms Wills said many competitors entered the challenge with little riding experience.

She said while it was competitive, it would be a really fun day.
