SPORT Southland and ILT Stadium Southland staff have organised a new fitness-based event for walkers and runners of different fitness abilities.
The inaugural Stadium Step Up Challenge will be held at Stadium Southland on Sunday, August 6.
Participants can take part in a non-timed challenge on an indoor course covering most of the interior at the stadium.
Sports Southland event manager Matt Sillars said the goal was to encourage people to challenge themselves and to do a bit of exercise.
“It is a really good opportunity for people to get some fitness in during these winter months and to have fun with their friends and family,” Mr Sillars said.
Stadium Southland business development manager Laura Morrison said the challenge would consist of two categories.
“The fitness fanatics category is for those looking to push themselves and who want to run the whole course, while social climbers is for those wanting to walk part or all of the course. Also, our in-house personal training gym Fit4u will be running obstacle courses on the community courts,” she said.
