Grace Robertson (11) and Fynn Robson (10) were among dozens of children who took up the opportunity to learn from Southland’s top junior mountainbiker Josh Burnett (centre), who ran a skills session last Sunday.
The talented cyclist was training hard to once again represent New Zealand at international competitions, but the Covid-19 outbreak meant he had to hit the brakes until racing returned.
With the help of the Southland Mountain Bike Club, he ran a skills sessions for youngsters at the Sandy Point Mountain Bike Tracks, near Invercargill.
“I would be in Europe by now, but there is no racing. It is nice to be home for a bit.
“I’ve got a lot from the club and the community during the years so I just want to give back to the community and show a few things I have picked up.”
