FIFTEEN fighters from the Invercargill Sejong Taekwondo Club competed in the Taekwondo Union of New Zealand national championships in Wellington and brought home 17 gold medals, six silvers and one bronze and the best overall colour belt trophy.
Club president Brock Monaghan-Neutze said the team worked extremely hard in the leadup to the competition.
“I am really proud of our team coaches Amanda Smith and Taine Forbes. One of the biggest things we talk about when training is respect to our opponents, respect to all coaches and refs and overall respect to the sport.
“Our focus point now will be to assess each individual on where they can improve and do what we can to help the growth of our team as we look forward to up and coming competitions,” Monaghan-Neutze said.
