The Invercargill Sejong Taekwondo club had 32 fighters in the Taekwondo Union of New Zealand (TUNZ) South Island championships held at ILT Stadium Southland two weeks ago.
They all won at least one medal, winning a combined 34 medals _ 19 gold, 10 silver and five bronze.
One of the club’s fighters, Kayne Duggan (21), won three fights in two divisions and
was named best overall black belt fighter of the tournament.
“I’m blown away by our results,” Invercargill Sejong Taekwondo president Brock Monaghan-Neutze said.
“I’m really proud. All our team pushed themselves at every training, and our success comes down to all the hard work they put in over the weeks leading up. A massive thank you to all our coaches, Amanda Smith, Taine Forbes, Brent Read and Warren Hodgetts.”
