THE Southland Sejong Taekwondo Club is in good shape for the South Island championships to be held in Invercargill this weekend.
Club fighters won nine medals – including five golds – at the eighth Mooto Gold Coast Open tournament in Australia.
Coach Brock Monaghan-Neutze said he was “super proud” of the efforts of the club’s team of five fighters at the tournament.
“I couldn’t be more proud of juniors Ryan Colvin, Ben Oosterbroek, Jack Taplin and Charlie Taplin. They all went out and fought to a very high standard. They all fought very smart and right till the end. They all showed great sportsmanship and represented our club well.”
The South Island Taekwondo Championships will be held at ILT Stadium Southland on Saturday, June 3, starting at 9am.
