TRACK cycling’s annual corporate pursuit has been bolstered with the announcement of Architecture Unlimited as the new naming sponsor for this year’s event.

Architecture Unlimited owners Wayne and Linda Partridge said taking on the popular business house track event was an ideal and timely opportunity following a recent rebranding of their business.

“We have always been avid supporters of Cycling Southland and the events it runs as a result of our son Sam’s involvement over recent years. During his junior racing years, supporting the Yunca Junior Tour of Southland has been an ideal way to give back to cycling,” Mr Partridge said.

“The Corporate Pursuit is a chance to step up the support commitment and exposure while still giving back to Cycling Southland and the fantastic velodrome for all they have helped with Sam’s development to a national representative level,” he said.

Cycling Southland general manager Mark Hotton said planning this year was well-advanced, team entries were coming in and, following on from feedback from last year, the structure of the divisions had been changed.

“We have businesses wanting to enter teams but don’t fall into the original “corporate’ definition. Some businesses simply don’t have six employees required to make up the numbers.

“With an eye on the overall goal to introduce people to the sport through a friendly, collaborative team racing environment and to provide a unique team building experience for businesses, these changes will make it easier for new businesses to take part.”

This year there are two divisions, a corporate division, made up only of staff directly employed by the company or business, and an all-comers division, made up of not just employees but family members, two businesses (or more) joined together or friends coming together, among other scenarios.

“We want to encourage people to take part in this fun event while maintaining the spirit of
the competition and think this is an excellent way to achieve that,” Mr Hotton said.
