INVERCARGILL will host an indoor bowls test match between New Zealand and Australia.

The international will be hosted by the Southland Indoor Bowls Association in May, 2019.

New Zealand indoor bowls team members Garry Low, back from Sydney where the Mat Blacks won this year’s international against Australia 41-25, said: “It will be exciting to host the Australian team and give them the chance to play on the best floor in New Zealand.”

Low and fellow Invercargill bowler Suzanne Mackie both tasted success in Sydney. Low’s men’s triple proved too good for the Aussies while Mackie was a member of the winning mixed four.

“It was a close match in the beginning but on the last day we won four of five games in the morning and four of six games in the evening.” Low said.

Mackie, who also competed in the women’s pair, played her debut for the Mat Blacks.
