Four-peat for Invercargill pair
INVERCARGILL golfers Matt Tautari and Tyler McLean took out the Southland Men’s Foursomes title and the P R Adams Trophy for the fourth consecutive year.
The duo, who both feature regularly in Southland representative teams, paired up to take the title again at Queens Park on Sunday, finishing with 136; well ahead of runners-up Liam Hewitt and Connor Fowle (144).
The Southland Women’s Foursomes title, and Esther Blackie Trophy, was won by Olivia Frost and Helen Baird (161) over runners-up Robyn Pullar and Geraldine Todd (167).
The Men’s Nett was won by Rodger Stewart and Darren Miller (141), and Kyle Dobbie and Chris Sherlock were runners-up (142), while the Women’s Nett was won by Kate McGregor and Lyn Lindsay, and runners-up were Josie Ladbrook and Julie Fleury.
The tournament proved a special one for long-time Southland golfer Paul Adams who shot a hole in one on the 11th hole.
MLT Presidents Pennants
THE 2020 MLT Presidents Pennants competition teed off on Saturday, with the first round played at Greenacres.
Invercargill A beat Invercargill C, 4-0. Individual results were: Liam Hewitt beat Brad Harper 4/2, Liam Balneaves beat Mark Horgan 3/2, Craig O’Rorke beat Daniel O’Connor 5/4, and Paul Adams beat Scott Ramsay 2 up.
Invercargill B defeated Winton 2results were: Matt Tautari lost to Simon Boland 1 down, Tyler McLean beat Peter Buckley 3/2, Rob Mainland beat Ewan Clark 4/3 and Doug Carmichael squared with Jason Unahi.
Greenacres and Gore both had byes.
The next round is in Winton on Saturday.
