NIGHTCAPSdefended the Laing Shield for the 40th consecutive time, this time taking a 3.5-2.5 victory over Lumsden.

It was a tight game, with four of the six matches going to the 18th hole.

Individual results were (Nightcaps names first): Brett Dobbie squared with Chris Senior, Stu Dobbie beat Peter Morsink 5/4, Ross Mangels lost to Craig Collins 1 down, Alan Roberts beat Brian Mills 2 up, Peter Booth lost to Logan Clive 1 down and Jay Petherick beat Les Hannagan 5/4.

Nightcaps’ next challenge is against Otautau.

Gilmour Rosebowl
RIVERTON has beaten Riversdale 4-1 to retain the Gilmour Rosebowl.

Individual results were (Riverton names first): Debbie O’Connell beat Vicki Dillon 5/3, Josie Ladbrook beat Cora Collins 2/1, Ann Kincaid beat Tina Mann 3/2, Emma MacCallum lost to Robyn Crooks 2/1 and Vera Kerr beat Lesley Clarke 5/3.

Riverton’s next challenge is against Drummond.

MLT Presidents Pennants
THE second round of the MLT Presidents Pennants was played at Winton Golf Club on Saturday.

In Section 1 Invercargill C drew 2-all with Greenacres.

Individual results were: Mark Horgan beat Jason Osbourne 7/6, Brad Harper beat Daniel Mills 6/4, Daniel O’Connor lost to Luke Harvey 1 down and Scott Ramsay lost to Chris Sherlock 2/1. Invercargill A had the bye.

In Section 2, Invercargill B beat Gore 4-0.

Individual results were: Matt Tautari beat Scott Hellier, Tyler McLean beat Bryan Burgess, Rob Mainland beat Craig Bradbury and Doug Carmichael beat Jonathan Hellier.

Winton had the bye.
