Sharks maintain stellar season

THE SIT Zero Fees Southland Sharks held off a resilient Manawatu Jets to bag its seventh straight win of the season.

With a 104-97 win, the team remains on top of the New Zealand Basketball league championship ladder for another week.

The game against the Jets was held at ILT Stadium Southland and the Sharks kept its invincibility on home soil record intact. However, it was not an easy victory.

The Sharks led by 13 points in the first quarter, but the Jets stormed back in the second quarter.

The visitors went into half-time leading by one. The game had multiple lead changes with the Sharks taking the win with less than 5 minutes on the clock.

Crowd favourite Dom Kelman-Poto was one of the game’s top scorers with 22 points and 11 rebounds.

The Sharks have an important game against the Franklin Bulls at 7.30pm on Saturday at the ILT Stadium Southland.
