Top tennis in Te Anau


All smiles: Emilia Price (16), of Winton, with New Zealand No 1 tennis player Marina Erakovic at the Distinction Hotels Te Anau Tennis Invitational held in Te Anau. The world No 105-ranked women’s singles player was drawn south to watch her coach Wesley Whitehouse as he competed during the men’s competition. Erakovic appeared in a mixed doubles exhibition match with Whitehouse against promising player Price and Queenstown-based tennis coach Lan Bale. The match was played before the final. New Zealand’s No 1 Rubin Statham took on Auckland’s Marcus Daniell in the final. Statham won 6-1 6-4.
