ASPIRING golfers have the chance to try out their golf swing and learn a few pointers at the upcoming Get Into Golf evenings being held over the next fortnight.
Golf Southland administration officer Linda Suddaby said the sporting body held the golf ‘‘teasers’’ twice a year. Proving popular over the past seven years, they offered free profes› sional coaching from golf professional Scott Riordan for beginners and new golfers.
‘‘This is the opportunity for people who want to have a go at trying out golf,’’ Mrs Suddaby said.
People had enjoyed the previous evenings so much there had been a steady increase in golf membership throughout the region, particularly in Wyndham and Winton, she said.
Although golf was a game suitable for all ages, the evenings, being held at Donovan Park, Invercargill, were designed for adults, she said.
Each session would run from 5.30pm› 7pm on Monday, February 15 and 22, and Thursday, February 18 and 25. All equipment, including clubs, putters, tees and golf balls, would be provided.
There were 25 golf clubs throughout Southland, which were keen for new members, Mrs Suddaby said.
