Otautau scout Samantha Moore (16) was officially awarded her Chief Scout’s Award at the St Andrews Scouts awards night in Otautau in July.
Samantha had worked towards achieving this award for several years, completing a range of activities including attending a Scout jamboree, organising a troop camp and attending several leadership courses. Samantha said attending the 22nd Scout Jamboree at Mystery Creek in Hamilton was a highlight.
Since she joined the group five years ago, she had also enjoyed making lots of friends along the way and felt Scouts gave her more confidence in tackling new experiences in life.
Samantha is looking forward to continuing her adventures with venturers, the next stage in scouting.
St Andrews Scouts secretary Nicole Carr said it was about 10 years since someone from St Andrews had been awarded the Chief Scout’s Award.
