THOSE with a sweet tooth can celebrate.
A door-to-door service delivering desserts is back on the menu for one night only.
Organiser Leon Hartnett, of Greenlight Innovations, said it had been six years since James McRobie and Liv Cochrane came up with the idea of Pavluber.
“However, for the past three years, Greenlight Innovations had organised this event, which had become a favourite for many people.”
This year’s Pavluber event offered a selection of five desserts which people could pre-order from an online menu.
“People don’t even need to leave their homes… they can order online,” he said.
“However, due to the Covid situation, we ask people to pay in advance this year.”
Prepared at Koha Kai at Elmwood Gardens, a fleet of dessert transportation technicians from Next Rotary Generation (NRG) Rotary and Sunrise Rotary clubs would deliver the desserts throughout the city and Bluff on Thursday, October 29, from 7pm-8pm.
As a bonus, the team, based at Elmwood Gardens, would also be manning Pavluber headquarters selling bonus desserts to the public who were welcome to attend on the night.
“Last year over 200 desserts were sold and we are hoping to sell out of all 250 desserts this year,” he said.
Desserts cost $10 each, with 50 of each dessert on offer, which would be allocated on a first-ordered, first-served basis, he said.
“We will advise people if they were unlucky to miss out on your first choice and will be offered an alternative if available.”
All of the money would go to Koha Kai to pay for “a special Christmas celebration for the elderly and our kaumatua who have had a challenging year in this year of Covid”, Mr Hartnett said.
Extending Christmas goodwill in the community, if anyone wanted to buy a dessert or two for another family, the Pavluber team had also partnered with The Spirit Army and organiser Gerry Forde.
‘‘Simply select the Spirit Army option on the order form and we will deliver it to a family that needs support.”
