The Stars shone bright at the South Island Marching Championships in Dunedin on Sunday. Twenty-seven teams took part in the event which had more than 600 people involved from marchers to supporters and volunteers.
The Southern Stars (pictured) took top honours being crowned the overall under-16 South Island Champion.
The team scored a first technical placing with Hokonui placing second technical and second display in the under-12 grade.
This results would give teams a great confidence boost for when they went to the Marching New Zealand Championships being held in Dunedin from March 18 to 20 next year.
Southland was represented by the following teams at the weekend:
Under-12: Southern Stars, Hokonui, Blue Jay (Saturday only); Under-16: Southern Stars, Blue Jay, Hokonui; Senior: Hokonui.
