THERE were a few nerves ahead of her audition on Saturday but for Sara Finnerty there was also a bit of excitement.
The 10-year-old from Makarewa was one of 80 people auditioning at the weekend for a spot in this year’s ILT Christmas Variety Show and chose Favourite Things as her song of choice to impress.
When asked why she wanted to try out, the answer came easily.
“Because I thought it would be really, really fun,” she said.
Judge and ILT Stadium Southland manager Nigel Skelt said auditions took place between 9am and 4pm on Saturday and Sunday with a variety of singers and dancers all vying for a place in the show.
“There’s a lot of new faces coming in to try out this year,” he said.
While fingers were all crossed the show would go ahead on December 21, a back-up plan had been arranged to hold the concert in January where they would bring back Santa for a one-off performance, Mr Skelt said.
