CUP Day is one of the south’s premier race days.

The Ascot Park Hotel Invercargill Cup will be raced amid a day of glamour, action and excitement on Saturday, January 29.

The race programme will feature the prestigious Group 3 Ascot Park Hotel Invercargill Cup to be run over 2700m for a stake of $30,000, the Arden Lodge Robin Dundee Crown, plus a heat of the Alabar Southern Supremacy Stakes, highlights in a great day of racing scheduled to begin at noon.

There will be prizes to be won and giveaways galore with the Bet’s In The Bag back again.

Fill in a coupon, place it in the barrel in the main foyer of the racecourse and several draws will be made to win betting vouchers of up to $200 to use on the day.

There will also be an opportunity to go in the draw later this season for a trip to the Peninsular Beachfront Resort in Mooloolaba, Australia – travel permitting.

To win any of the prizes, punters must be on course on the day and be 18 years of age and over. Staff and committee members and their families are not permitted to enter and only one entry per person is permitted.

Adding to the race day activities, free activities for children include bouncy castles, bumper balls, sumo suits, a children’s tote, sack races, a heads & tails game, and a free lolly giveaway after Race 6 with prizes on offer.

Bring along a coupon from next week’s Southland Express and the first 100 children accompanied by an adult will receive a free hot dog and chips.

The club will also provide patrons free tea and coffee in Lizzy’s Cafe on the ground floor of the main grandstand all day as well as $12 plated meals with a choice of ham, salad and
fries, or blue cod, eggs and fries.

Admission on the day is free.

Most hospitality areas on the course are all booked but tent sites are still available by phoning Southern Harness Racing promotions officer Lindsay Beer on 021 351 499.
