The semi-finalists for this weekend’s finals at Gore are Invercargill A v Winton and Riversdale v Mataura.

This is the first year both Riversdale and Mataura have entered teams in this competition so a big congratulations to them for making the finals.

The competition for semi-final placings came down to the number of overall matches won and, in section one, Invercargill A came out on top with 10 matches won and Riversdale second on eight.

In section two, Mataura won with nine matches and Winton was second on seven-and-a-half .

Greenacres 0: Matt Tautari beat Chris Sherlock 5/4, Craig O’Rorke beat Brett Dobbie, Liam Hewitt beat Saan Carrol 4/3, Paul Adams beat Nathan Piggot 5/4.

Riversdale 3, Gore 1: Daniel Elder beat Simon Hollyer 2/1, Dean Whaanga lost Craig Bradbury 2/1, Morgan Will beat Bryan Burgess 2/1, Grant Weller beat Julian Morris 4/3.

Section 2 — Mataura 4 Queens Park 0: Tyler McLean beat Ngarimu Paraki 2/1, Tegan Proudfoot beat Chris McIlwrick 6/5, Rhuebyn Prattley beat Murray Hewitt 1up, Adam Newton beat Dale Owen 1up.

Invercargill B 2.5, Winton 1.5: Liam Balneaves beat Ben Worker 5/4, Bryan Cantley lost to Simon Boland 1down. Mark Horgan square Ewan Clark, Doug Carmichael beat Jason Unahi 2/1.

Southland Men’s Masters South Island Interprovincial Team
The Southland team to play in the South Island Masters Interprovincial at Waitikiri Golf Club on October 2 and 3 in playing order is: Simon Hollyer, Doug Carmichael, Simon Boland, Bryan Cantley, Ngarimu Paraki, Glen Sutherland.
